Celtics to trade $63M scorer for Robert Williams in 4-Way Trade

If the Kristaps Porzingis trade goes well, the Celtics may need more backcourt depth than frontcourt depth.

Dalton Trigg of Sports Illustrated offered a four-way trade for Robert Williams III and Payton Pritchard that would give the Celtics a guard and scorer.

Trigg suggested the Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers, and Houston Rockets swap.

Trigg then outlined why the Celtics would trade Williams but not Porter.

As excellent as Robert Williams is, he gets hurt and may play less in Boston after Porzingis arrives.”

Porter is 23 and has scored well. Porter averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in 2023-23, shooting 44.2% from the field and 36.6% from three.

Given Williams' and Porzingis' injury history, the Celtics would be unlikely to trade for Porter.

Blake Griffin told Dan Rappoport of Barstool Sports on “Fore Play Golf” that he loves playing in Boston in 2022-23, whether he stays or leaves.
