Eagles Injury Report: Jalen Carter returns, DeVonta Smith among 4 players missing practice

In anticipation of their Week 7 game against the Miami Dolphins, the Philadelphia Eagles released their first official injury report on Wednesday.

Because the squad did a walkthrough instead of a normal practice, this report represents an estimate.

Lane Johnson, DeVonta Smith, Reed Blankenship, and Bradley Roby were marked as DID NOT PARTICIPATE.

Johnson is "doing fine," according to Brian Baldinger, and "he'll be ready for Miami." This sentiment is consistent with a prior rumor

that Johnson may be able to avoid missing game action. The Eagles are most likely attempting to rest Johnson as much as possible before having him play on Sunday night.

Smith has a hamstring ailment and is a fresh addition to the injury report. It's reasonable to question if the Eagles' signing

of Julio Jones has anything to do with this situation. Thursday will be more informative about whether DeVonta will play this weekend.

If not, the Birds' top three wide receiver choices will be A.J. Brown, newly signed Julio Jones, and Olamide Zaccheaus.

Blankenship apparently averted an injury that would have put him on injured reserve, but it appears he will miss at least one game.

If that's the case, the Eagles will be without both starting safety until Week 11 because Justin Evans is on injured reserve.
