In a deleted Twitter post, Noah Lyles mocks USA Basketball after their World Cup loss.
After American sprinter Noah Lyles stated in August that NBA champions should not refer to themselves as "world champions,"
he was met with criticism from players like as Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard, Draymond Green, and Devin Booker.
Lyles made his statement after Team USA was defeated 113-111 by Germany in the FIBA World Cup semifinals on Friday.
The American sprinter shared a message on X, formerly Twitter
that combined the game's final score with an image of Lyles stating, "World champion of what?"
Lyles later removed the repost.Lyles also commented on another thread about the semifinals score.
Lyles made his initial remarks after winning the 100m and 200m races at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
Lyles described the World Athletics Championships as a more worldwide battle than the NBA Finals
when questioned about the difficulty of capturing a world title in track and field.
Don't get me wrong: I admire the United States at times, but it is not the center of the universe.
