Jason Kelce of the Philadelphia Eagles has hinted at a possible retirement after the 2023 season.
While talking on The NFL Report with Steve Wyche and James Palmer, Eagles great center Jason Kelce intimated that this could be his final season in the NFL.
When asked about his demanding schedule off the field, the six-time Pro Bowler admitted that his career "could be over pretty soon."
"I think it is a lot, and I think the way we've justified it as a family is this [playing football] is going to be over pretty soon here" said Kelce, who was 35 years old at the time.
"If it's this year, which it very well could be, we want to make sure that we're ready to go when football's done."
Kelce and fellow Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata recorded a smash Christmas CD last season, in addition to featuring in a slew of advertisements.
"You need to just enjoy the last time you have left with the guys you have," he said.
"When these opportunities [the Christmas album] come up, you realize that the closer you are to the end of your career the opportunities to do these fun
and engaging things with fans and friends is gonna be less and less and you realize that and it makes you want to do them that much more because when you're done it's not gonna be there as much."
If this season is his final year in the NFL, Kelce certainly will have the opportunity to go out on top, as the Eagles boast the best record (6–1) in the NFC and appear poised for another deep run in the postseason.
Jason and his brother Travis, who are the hosts of the popular podcast New Heights, continue to thrive in their off-the-field endeavors.
