John Wick: Chapter 4 ripped up the weekend box office with a massive $73.5 million domestic debut from 3,855 cinemas.

It had a record-breaking worldwide start of $137.5 million from 71 markets, setting a series high on all fronts.

The fourth entry in the popular Lionsgate action franchise easily outperformed the $56.8 million North American debut of 2019's John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum. 

It also represents one of the finest openings for Lionsgate in 2023 thus far and their biggest domestic debut of the epidemic period.

Furthermore, according to Lionsgate, it joins a limited group of movies that have achieved a franchise record in only nine of their previous 40 films or in its fourth outing.

Every market where the film debuted at No. 1 internationally. With $6.7 million, the U.K. took the lead, surpassing John Wick 3 by 56%.
