KC Chiefs bring back Mecole Hardman in trade with New York Jet

The Kansas City Chiefs have decided to add a familiar face to their active roster while filling some obvious needs at wide receiver.

According to NFL analyst Adam Schefter, veteran wide receiver Mecole Hardman will return to Kansas City in a trade before the NFL's trade deadline.

Given his status as a healthy scratch and odd man out for the Jets since the season began, Hardman has been considered as a potential acquisition for the Chiefs for some time.

According to Albert Breer, the Chiefs have exchanged a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft for Hardman and a seventh-round pick in the same draft class.

The Chiefs and Jets are negotiating a low-level deal to get Mecole Hardman back for another season.

In the offseason, the Jets signed Hardman to a one-year contract worth $3.5 million guaranteed and up to $5.5 million in incentives.

However, somewhere between the spring and fall, the Jets soured on their purchase

and kept him on the bench most of the time. Hardman has one catch for six yards in four games this season,

which is far from what the organization anticipated when signing him in the first place.

Hardman returns to the Chiefs as a player who is already familiar with the playbook and the locker room,
