"Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" is dominating the global box office, with predictions ranging from $126 million to $130 million in its debut weekend.
It's a strong start for any concert film, but it's especially noteworthy given that it was revealed only six weeks ago and debuted on the big screen with little marketing.
Swift's "The Eras Tour," which is produced and marketed by AMC Theatres, is expected to bring in between $31 million
and $33 million from 94 international territories. It ranked first in the United States, as well as the United Kingdom,
Mexico, Australia, Germany, and the Philippines, with estimates ranging from $95 million to $97 million.
At this stage, studios normally release a firmer figure, however AMC Theatres noted that "without clear comparisons,
Sunday box office projections remain a range." Already, "The Eras Tour" has outperformed the previous record for a concert film,
"Taylor Swift's talent and persona are striking a powerful chord, and the film captures it," says David A. Gross,
president of film consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research. "It's Taylor Swift's time."
