The Aquaman 2 director announces the next DC Reboot superhero project.

After the sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom filmmaker James Wan is formally working on a new superhero project for Disney+.

With Aquaman 2, Jason Momoa's second solo outing, Wan will return to theatres in December, but what comes after that is out in the air.

Momoa "always envisioned Aquaman as a trilogy," according to DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran, but the most recent developments suggest the actor may leave the character, perhaps bringing an end to Wan's Atlantean superhero series.

Wan has directed two Aquaman films so far, and he was working on the cancelled Trench horror film with Black Manta.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that Atomic Monster, the production business run by Aquaman filmmaker James Wann,

and Annabelle writer Gary Dauberman will create a new Gargoyles superhero series for Disney+.

Official announcement of the news was made by Wan on Instagram, where he shared the story and expressed eagerness to work with Dauberman again on Gargoyles, referring to him as a "genuine fan" of the mythos:

'The Marvels' is expected to gross $75-$80 million in its first weekend, which is around 50% less than the opening weekend of 'Captain Marvel.'
