A new infant has been welcomed at the Oakland Zoo in California!
A healthy giraffe named Kendi was born last week.
The giraffe herd at the zoo has a new member who is 150 pounds and 6 12 feet tall.
For comparison, Kendi is already approximately the height of a typical fake Christmas tree and comparable to Michael Jordan in height.
The zoo's assistant zoological manager, Amy Phelps, said, "We're so happy to have a new baby join the herd.
"With the expertise of our staff, we’re prepared to assist Kijiji as she enters this stage in life as a new mother."
The International Union for Conservation of Nature has giraffes on its list of "critically endangered" species.
